Shalom

Shalom (peace),

You know I really love that word, Shalom... the generic meaning is very simplistic; Peace. But the true intended meaning behind it is so much more fulfilling. The idea of Shalom is so much greater than just a generic "peace". When someone tells you shalom, they are actually saying a brief prayer to God wishing you peace, prosperity, completeness and a oneness with God that transcends all our worries. How awesome is that. For the Jewish community this idea of Shalom is completeness brought on through prosperity and the grace of God.

I don't know about you but I think this should be the kind of hope and blessings we begin all our conversations with. It would serve as a constant reminder to our Christian brothers and sisters that we are part of something bigger. Something we are all striving for personally and praying that other might find. Every time we meet we should remind ourselves of the great glory and majesty that only God can provide. We should vocalize the understanding that we pray each one of us finds this lasting peace and prosperity in God. It transcends earthly wealth and prosperity and reminds us that in God all things are made better. That in God we have no worries, just peace. Shalom is a state of completeness wherein we are fully aware of God and He is working miracles in our lives.

I don't know, I mean Hi! How ya doin'? is a very nice and informal greeting. I just wonder how different it would be if we started every conversation, "hey God loves you and I pray that you find His warm embrace. I pray that you discover His presence and that it might bring you the completeness you are looking for."Now that's Shalom.

Doesn't that just sound better.

Oh well, just a thought.

Shalom...

I think it only proper that my first post be a prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Thank you God for allowing me to speak to You. I know that I do not deserve this right but I thank you for granting it to me. God, you know my heart and you know my convictions I ask that you take control of all that I am and allow me to be the person you need me to be. I ask that you watch over all those in harms way and ask that you somehow bring those that do not know you closer to you. You are truly an awesome God and I am humbled to know that you have allowed me to come in an serve others on your behalf. Please guard my family and friends, keep us safe and focused on you. It's in your son's heavenly name I pray. AMEN.
